West Coast by Coconut Records

“West Coast” is a melancholy ode to California that expertly incorporates a Beach Boys and The Shins sound  into a cohesive ballad. The nostalgic tune first appeared on Jason Schwartzman’s debut album, “Nighttiming,” before it was launched into fame by fans of his previous film and music careers. As the only member of “Coconut Records,” Schwartzman crafts one of the most beautifully haunting instrumental accompaniments in the indie-pop genre. His  poignant keyboard loop leads the melody along into a signature laid-back sound. While a bit downcast, the tune has the ability to soothe any tension the listener might carry with its beautifully nostalgic message.
