Walkin’ Back to Georgia by Jim Croce

“Walkin’ Back to Georgia” is a bare-bones, folk country masterpiece off Jim Croce’s album, “Don’t Mess Around With Jim,” which skillfully blends a beautiful acoustic melody with a calming folk atmosphere synonymous with most of his debut works. Croce relates an inspiring message of hope and redemption even as he was struggling, overworked and underpaid by the jobs he had taken up at the time. Arguably the most influential and notable of his works, the ballad serves to solidify Croce’s memory as one of the best down-to-earth storytellers of his age and one who truly understood what it meant to pursue something during hard times.
